VCAT Practice Note on Fair Hearing Obligation
On 24 September 2010, the HRLRC and the PILCH Homeless Persons’ Legal Clinic made a joint submission to the President of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) on the important role that the Tribunal plays in protecting the right to a fair hearing and facilitating access to justice in Victoria. VCAT President, Justice Iain Ross AO, invited comments from interested parties on a Draft VCAT Practice Note that had been prepared relating to the fair hearing obligation.

The Human Rights Law Centre has put forward recommendations to the 2025-26 federal budget submissions across a range of issues, including campaigning for an Australian Human Rights Act, migration justice, prisoners’ rights, whistleblower protection and modern slavery.
