Edwina MacDonald - Legal Director

 

Edwina manages our Sydney office and leads our United Nations engagement and our work on Australia’s human rights framework.

Edwina is passionate about achieving positive social change. She brings extensive legal and policy experience from community, academic and government sectors in local, national and global contexts.

Most recently Edwina led the policy and advocacy work of the Australian Council of Social Service. Edwina previously led reform agendas for Women’s Legal Services NSW and Australia, UNSW’s Kingsford Legal Centre and Australian Lawyers for Human Rights; directed research projects at UNSW’s Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law; lectured in law reform and public interest law; and worked as an advisor in federal government. Edwina serves on the Board of the Intellectual Disability Rights Service. 

Edwina holds a Master of Policy Studies, Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) from UNSW.
