The Human Rights Law Centre is deeply committed to the realisation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ human rights in Australia, as a vital component of our broader mission to protect and promote human rights in Australia and in Australian activities overseas.

We support the self-determination of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We do this by putting the voices of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people front and centre, and by working in deep partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations in our legal action, in our advocacy and in our research.

Generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have fought for equality, meaningful change and for self-determination. We are proud to present the Human Rights Law Centre’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan – a plan that puts into action our commitment to doing our work in a way that supports reconciliation and the realisation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ right to self-determination.
