The Human Rights Law Centre does not provide legal help to members of the public directly. We only take on a small number of cases each year and they are developed in partnership with other organisations in accordance with our strategic priorities.

If you are an individual who needs legal help, you should contact the legal aid commission in your state or territory or speak to your local community legal centre. Legal aid commissions and community centres provide free legal services.
If you are not eligible for help from a legal aid commission or a community legal centre, you can ask them about trying to get free legal help from a pro bono lawyer, or a private lawyer.
To find a private lawyer that specialises in the area of law that your problem relates to, you can speak to the Law Society or Law Institute in your State or Territory. Some lawyers offer free 30 minute consultations and different ways of paying fees like no win no fee arrangements .
